7 Day Cabbage Soup Diet
The 7 day cabbage soup diet, as the name suggests, is a diet plan which spans an entire week and promises to help you shed about ten pounds over the course of the week. Fortunately however, this diet does not require that you eat nothing but cabbage soup for an entire week. There are options as you what you can eat on a given day, but each day has specific guidelines and these guidelines are not exactly easy to meet. The good news is that if you fail you can always try again, it should get a little bit easier every time, and every time that you do manage to accomplish the diet you’ll be rewarded with a quick little bit of weight loss.
This diet is not meant to be done one consecutive week after another though, rather you should stick to the diet for the entire week and then use the next week not the gorge yourself on all the foods you’ve been craving but simply to replenish yourself. Throughout the diet you should try to drink lots of water, especially during meals and whenever you may be craving snacks. You may also want to take some vitamin supplements if you feel you aren’t getting enough nutrients, any supplements in pill form are fine. We’ll now go through the week day-by-day, since each day has its own unique requirements.
The first day of the diet includes lots of fruit if you’d like, you can have any fruit except for bananas. For drinks you can only have water and any tea you’d like as long as you do not put sugar in it. Last but certainly not least is the cabbage soup; you can have all the cabbage soup you’d like on the first day. To make the soup you need a full head of cabbage, some green peppers, an onion, some onion soup mix, a bunch of garlic cloves, two cubes of vegetable bouillon, a can of diced tomatoes, a can of tomato juice, and whatever other spices you’d like to add to the concoction, according to your taste. Chop up all the vegetables and throw them into a large pot, then add enough water to the pot to submerse the entire mixture. Put the pot on the stove on high heat until the soup comes to a rolling boil. Reduce the heat until you reach a low simmer and let sit for about ten minutes until all the vegetables are nice and soft.
The second day of the diet permits all the vegetables you want, raw or cooked. You can also continue to have the cabbage soup, however you cannot have any fruit whatsoever on this day. It is often recommended to include a baked potato with dinner, with which it is permissible to have a little bit of butter, if you’d like.
The third day of the diet allows all the fruits and vegetables you would like, with the exception of the baked potato for dinner. Once again you can have all the cabbage soup you would like. It is important to drink plenty of water every day during the diet, but day 3 in particular requires that you drink at least eight full glasses of water, over and above any tea you may still be drinking.
You make begin to get sick of the cabbage soup, but every day of this diet is designed to be a little different to keep you motivated and interested. Hence day four requires that you eat mostly just bananas and skim milk. You can still have all the cabbage soup you would like but there is nothing else allowed so you’ll probably want to have a lot of bananas and milk. There is no limit on how much milk you can have, as long as its skim, but do not eat more than eight bananas on the fourth day. Also, you must once again make sure to drink at least eight glasses of water.
The fifth day of the diet will be a big relief if you’re a meat eater, you should have about 20 ounces of beef, or skinless chicken, if you’d prefer. You’re also supposed to eat six fresh tomatoes, and have the cabbage soup at least once during the course of the day. It is very important to drink water on the fifth day, the requirement rises to ten glasses of water.
Fortunately on the sixth day you can add all the beef or chicken you’d like to your soup, though you should obviously stay away from fried chicken and other unhealthy ways of having beef or chicken. Also drink eight full glasses of water.
Hooray, the last day of the diet. You should have the cabbage soup twice on the last day, and you can also have brown rice. Eat some vegetables and treat yourself to some unsweetened fruit juice in addition to the eight glasses of water.
