Just because it is January and you’re getting started on your New Years diet resolutions, doesn’t mean you need to forgo good tasting foods. After holiday indulgences sure we all need to tighten our belts but January doesn’t have to mean blah breakfasts and skimpy suppers. Lunches too needn’t be a drag.
If you’re looking for a way to keep to your diet and weight loss goals without forgoing great tasting and satisfying meals keep reading. Below are some great lunch options that will fill you up and put a smile on your face.
Hearty Soups. So you aren’t gorging on chocolates and turkey dinners, but you can still enjoy a healthy and filling meal all while keeping on track with your weight loss goals. Hearty soups are a great way to go. Soups don’t have to be merely an appetizer. Instead opt for a great lentil soup filled with protein or a hearty stew. You can substitute high fat meats for lean chicken or bison instead. Instead of opting for creamy soups fill it up with high protein content lentils, beans or lean meats and go heavy on the vegetables. Soups can make you feel great especially on the colder winter days.
Low-fat Wraps. A wrap is another great lunch option. Wraps can be filling and healthy if you make them right. Try filling a whole wheat pita or wrap with fresh veggies. Opt for cottage cheese or a low fat mayo as a means to keep the fat content down. You can also use skim milk mozzarella instead of full fat cheeses. If carbs are your new enemy, you can use seaweed wraps or rice wraps to keep carb content down.
Salads. Ok, salads can sound like real diet food, but you can always spice things up by adding fresh fruits, seeds or low fat cheese. A low fat goats feta can bring a whole new taste to a bland salad as can a few strawberries or mandarin orange slices. Instead of opting solely for greens you can also mix things up with some rice noodles or rice pasta. Beans can also make for a great salad, so long as you keep things light.
Trying to ensure you eat a healthy lunch can help keep you on track for dinner time. Skipping meals is never a good idea and will have you binging in the evenings thereby spoiling your best diet plans.
