Building Better Arms

When it comes to looking buff, the arms are a dead give away.  Most men, and increasingly women too, spend a good deal of time sculpting the arm muscles.  The bulging bicep poking out of the t-shirt is a true sign of a strong physique, but just how should one go about building the best arms in the business?

In order to really build arm strength and a nice sculpted physique you need to go beyond simply working the biceps and triceps muscles.  There are also hidden muscles that are equally important to toning and building up the arms.

According to strength training experts, most men aren’t working their whole arm when they workout.  Most guys are apparently only working about sixty percent of their arm muscles during any given workout.  What this means is that workouts are actually less effective than they could be.  Moreover, results will be lackluster if the whole arm isn’t worked.

Working only the biceps and triceps will leave the arms less defined.  This is because there are actually five muscles in the arm that are important to looking toned and buff.  Biceps curls and triceps press-downs, the most common exercises used by both men and women for arm work, only target two or three of these five muscles.

The triceps have three components, the lateral, medial and long heads.  Most triceps exercises miss the third which is a terrible mistake.  This part of the triceps located around the inner part of arm is really important to looking good.  When this part of the triceps is worked out, it gives your arm a more defined appearance.  In men, this will actually make your arm look wider from all angles.

When it comes to the biceps as well, there are different components.  Developing the muscles in the brachialis, which pushes up near the biceps, will result in larger looking biceps.  The way to get at this area is to do curls with the hands palms facing down.

Because people tend to be creatures of habit they might sacrifice learning new skills for the sake of sticking to their routine.  But if you’ve noticed that your traditional exercises aren’t getting you the results you want, then it is probably time to think outside the box.

When it comes to building really toned and buff arms, make sure to target the full range of arm muscles instead of relying on the same old triceps and biceps curls.  By pushing your arm workouts a little further, you’ll be on your way to super sexy arms.
