Calming Foods For Kids

Foods have a big influence on your child&undefined;s behavior. Kids eating processed foods, sugary foods or foods that are high in carbohydrates are affected when the food interferes with their blood sugar level. Foods such as white bread, white pastas, flour products, candy and other junk foods will give your children a momentary high and send them crashing afterwards, affecting their mood. These types of foods can make children irritable, cranky and anxious. Here are three foods to feed your kids that have a naturally calming affect:

1.Cut Fresh Veggies. Raw vegetables are one of the best things you can feed your kids. Raw food contains tons of enzymes , promoting healthy digestion. They also contain a range of vitamins and nutrients which are essential for proper growth. Make vegetables fun – cut up your kid&undefined;s favorite veggie in different fun shapes and pair it with a low fat tasty dip.

2.Whole grain cereal. Whole grain cereal that has little sugar is a great way to ensure your kids are getting complex carbohydrates that will not cause a spike in blood sugar. Whole grains contain complex carbs which will give your children energy all day instead of making them crash. Pair cereal with milk in the morning for a healthy breakfast that your kids will love.

3.Cheese. Most kids like cheese so it shouldn&undefined;t be too hard to make them eat it. Cheese is a great source of calcium and also has a lot of protein. Calcium is very important in the development of bones and teeth so make sure that your child has enough of it. Cheese is an easy and wholesome snack and it can also be paired with veggies or put on a sandwich.

If your child&undefined;s diet isn&undefined;t on the wholesome side right now, ease them into a healthy diet. If your kids are cravings sweets such as chocolate or candy try giving them fruit smoothies or fruit cups that are low in sugar.
