Children's Diet and Health
Babies are very delicate and their internal systems require delicate care. Their health should be of foremost importance from the day they are born, and the food they are given should be closely monitored. As a baby’s bodily systems are not developed they need extra care. The digestive system is fragile and babies are not able to digest most foods in their first months.
While at first they are dependant on mother’s breast milk, after the mother starts producing less milk they must be introduced to other foods. Baby food that is fresh and nutrient filled will ensure your child’s health continues. Making your own baby food by mashing up various fruits and vegetables such as carrots, peas, strawberries, and peaches is great for your child. Another option is buying organic, all natural baby food. You do not want to feed your child any kind of food with preservatives which can harm their delicate bodies.
For the first two years many baby’s have allergic reactions to certain types of foods. In some cow milk produces an allergy but goat’s milk is usually a good substitute. Babies may also be susceptible to allergies from egg whites, peanuts, fish, pears, and beans. Reactions generally include the child breaking out in a rash. As the child gets older and can digest other foods, their diet should still be monitored. Leafy green vegetable juices and high amounts of fruits and vegetables should be consumed by children as they grow. Milk and dairy products are also important because the calcium helps the child’s bones and teeth develop properly. Iron and folic acid also help prevent anemia in children. High amounts of sodium or processed foods should be avoided.
Your child’s health and well being should be first on your list of priorities from the time they are born. Ensuring your child has a healthy diet from day one will help them develop properly and hopefully encourage them to carry their healthy eating habits on throughout their life. Astronutrition carries a variety of children’s health products.
