Create A Healthy Work Environment
Unfortunately, the majority of people spend more time at work than they do at home. Because this will probably not change anytime soon, it is important to make the most out of your space at work and be as healthy as you can. Granted, sitting at a computer all day or being inside all day may not be the best thing for you, there are still small changes you can make to get the most out of your space and your work environment and make it as healthy as you can. Here are three ways to get healthy at work:
1.Disinfect! Most people work in a very dirty environment without even knowing it. This can lead to sickness and disease which can be prevented. Desks, phones and keyboards carry some of the largest amounts of bacteria than anywhere else. Be sure to clean your workstation daily if possible and don&undefined;t leave it up to the janitors.
2.Have a stash of healthy food. It may feel impossible to avoid the Monday morning donuts or the afternoon candy bowl at the office but it isn&undefined;t. All you have to do is be prepared and that means keeping your own stash of healthy snacks that won&undefined;t leave you starving and reaching for the junk food. Keep carrots and hummus in the fridge or even a bag of nuts at your desk and reach for them when you feel the urge to eat.
3.Keep a change of clothes at work. Keep a pair of runner, some shorts and a tshirt at work and try to make time to get some exercise. If you have an hour long lunch, take full advantage of it. Instead of reading a book or browsing the internet, go for a half an hour jog or even a power walk. It will get the blood flowing, burn some calories an will energize you for the rest of the day.
Work doesn&undefined;t have to be an unhealthy place – half the battle of being healthy is just being prepared for it. Always pack a healthy lunch, keep healthy snacks around, and plan to work out so that there are never any excuses for unhealthy behaviour.
