Eat More Alkaline Foods To Prevent Disease
One key aspect to our health is our blood pH level. An acid imbalance in the body can lead to disease, illness, weight gain , and overall poor health. Acidic imbalance in the body can be countered by alkaline forming foods. Eating in a way which balances out your natural pH levels will leave you feeling energized and youthful and will also fight many common ailments and can prevent life threatening disease.
The basic idea of eating alkaline foods is to keep your blood at its natural pH level. In a natural and healthy state the normal measure is about 7.35 on the pH scale. The pH scale is a measure of acidity and alkalinity ranging between 1 and 14. The midpoint (7) is considered to be pH neutral. Below 7 is considered to be acidic and above 7 is considered to be alkaline. As you can see, our blood levels are naturally slightly on the alkaline side. In order to keep it this way we must eat healthy foods.
Eating processed, fatty, or other foods that are not good for you can make your blood drop down into the acidic levels which causes illnesses, disease, and weight gain. The foods that we eat are labelled as acid forming or alkalizing depending on what effect they have on the blood after the body digests them. As a rule of thumb, a well balanced diet should consist of 80% alkaline foods and 20% acidic foods. Shockingly, much of the world has their numbers reversed.
Eating a balanced and mostly alkaline diet isn&undefined;t as hard as it may sound. The list of alkaline foods is extensive but includes mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, almonds, lentils, sprouted seeds, hemp oil, flax seed, herbal tea, and fresh vegetable juice. The acidic foods you should eat only in moderation include are white pastas, white bread, any kinds of meat, dairy products, eggs, peanuts, cashews, and any foods with trans fats. To keep yourself healthy and energized for life, stick to a diet centred around nutritious and preferrably organic raw foods. Eat lots of salads, fruit, and sprouted grains and stay away from processed or fatty foods. Meat intake should be limited if not completely cut from your diet. If you are curious about your blood pH level, it can be tested using kits available at many health food stores.
