Eating Clean for Weight Loss
Sometimes losing weight doesn’t have to mean following a diet guru or cutting out all of your favourite foods. Sometimes weight loss can be successfully achieved simply by eating clean.
You’ve probably heard many people say that they try to eat clean. But what exactly does this mean? According to most people eating clean simply means steering clear of processed foods and eating plenty of whole, natural and living foods.
While opinions and tastes will of course vary, eating clean whatever exactly the definition will tend to help most people lose weight. The reason being that the body reacts differently to processed foods than it does to whole and natural foods. Artificial foods, flavours and highly processed foods tend to be higher in fat, carbs, salt, sugar and other weight gaining additives.
On top of this, processed foods are manufactured with ingredients that make you crave more. This leads to overeating and weight gain. In fact, manufacturers spend billions of dollars every year developing artificial flavours that are chemically designed to make you overeat!
Choosing to eat clean therefore can help you lose weight simply by stopping the chemical addiction to certain foods and substances. Starting to eat clean means restocking your pantry or fridge with a different kind of food and may involve a high learning curve for some.
If you want to start to eat cleaner begin by getting rid of all processed foods. Clear out your bags of chips, crackers, frozen pizzas and whatever else you have stashed away. Go back to the basics and start filling your grocery cart with plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole organic grains, and meats that are raised ethically and without antibiotics.
Doing this will dramatically improve your health and will in all likelihood lead to significant weight loss over the long term. You’ll feel better, look better and will have more energy to get active.
