The word hypnosis comes from the Greek word “hypnos” which means sleep. Hypnosis or hypnotherapy is widely used in a by doctors for clinical reasons as well as in self-help and therapy programs. Clinicians view hypnosis as a technique that may be included in a physician’s therapeutic course of action for a patient. People who are hypnotized find themselves in a deep relaxation state, almost as if they are in a trance.
