The regulations dealing with how foods are labeled is ambiguous and hard to regulate. Many believe the term “low-fat” is used to increase the sales of foods in today's market. Low compared to what? Often, all it means is that the food is lower fat than it was at one time. A new lower-fat version may still have 100 grams of fat.
Don’t be fooled - what is low fat to a manufacturer can be very high to your diet. Inspect the label and try to find foods that are less than 2 grams of fat per serving. If you’ve decided to go the low-fat route, that’s great, but make sure you get it right.
