So you’ve heard it a thousand times! Don’t skip out on breakfast if you want to lose weight or maintain a healthy body weight. Eating breakfast means you’re less hungry throughout the day. Not into eggs on the go? There are many ways you can make your morning meal taste good and still be good for you.
Here’s some simple breakfast solutions you can adapt to your hectic morning:
- Banana with peanut butter
- Fruit sliced into yogurt with nuts
- Oatmeal with fruit - like apples, blueberries, or peaches
- Small whole wheat tortilla with a few tablespoons of peanut butter and chopped strawberries.
- Breakfast smoothies with berries, ice, and milk or yogurt
- Breakfast sandwich - whole-grain English muffins, a cooked egg, low-fat cheese
- Multi-grain waffles and fruit with light syrop
- Eggs wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla with some veggies and low-fat cheese
- Egg frittata made with veggies, low-fat milk and cheese
Stick to fruits, vegetables, and whole grains – the high fiber keeps you fuller, longer. Breakfast doesn’t need to be elaborate, and it shouldn’t be just a coffee on the way out the door either. Stay away from bagels, cream cheese, and some granola; they can be very high in fat. Remember breakfast eaters are usually those who are able to lose the most weight.
