PRODUCT REVIEW: Horney Goat Weed

Horny Goat Weed, otherwise known as Ying Yang Huo in Traditional Chinese medicine, is used to treat a variety of conditions.  In TCM, Horny Goat Weed has been used to aid in the treatment of back disorders, kidney disorders and liver and joint problems.

Not only is Horny Goat Weed useful for treating the above disorders, but this herb has also long been known to have aphrodisiac effects.

Horny Goat Weed contains testosterone like properties.  What this means is that Horny Goat Weed acts similarly to the way in which testosterone acts in the body.

Horny Goat Weed stimulates sexual desire, increases the nerve sensory stimulus in the area, and enhances sexual activity.  On the most biological level as well, Horny Goat Weed increases actual sperm count and sperm production.

Horny Goat Weed has been shown to inhibit an enzyme in the body known as AChE.  This enzyme, known by the full name, acetylcholinesterase, is found in the brain and in the neuromuscular arenas of the body.  These are used for response times and speed.  As such, Horny Goat Weed helps to induce more arousal and faster arousal response.  In short, Horny Goat Weed helps with erections and erectile dysfunction.

Studies have shown an overall effectiveness of Horny Goat Weed in promoting sexual arousal.  Research suggests that this herbal supplement is useful for improving sexual satisfaction overall and for improving sexual desire in particular.

There are no known negative side effects to the use of Horny Goat Weed.  While the herb can be used to treat a variety of ailments, its aphrodisiac effects have become well known and pretty well researched.  Most users will experience an increase in levels of arousal and, by proxy, an increase in sexual satiety.
