Most people find it surprising that sex is good for you. Exercise is good for
you, vegetables are good for you, but sex? Surprisingly, having sex a minimum of two times per week can deliver amazing benefits.
Sex is one of the best stress relievers there is. After all, it is a form of exercise. Researchers in Scotland report that sex lowers blood pressure and overall stress levels significantly in both the women and men they studied. One sweat session in the bedroom can burn up to 100 calories at a time. If you are sexually active on a regular basis, over the course of a year it could amount to at least a few pounds. Sex can also increase immunity because it increases production of an antibody called immunoglobulin A or IgA that prevents colds and infections. For men, sex has been found to decrease their risk of prostate cancer by almost one third later in life. Finally, one of the most important advantages of sex is that is boosts self esteem. Studies done on couples find that when they have sex often their self esteem us much higher, and they feel happier overall. Couples in relationships lacking in sex tend to feel down on themselves, and are easily unhappy. This especially affects women, and they can feel disconnected with their partner when they do not have sex frequently. Orgasms boost levels of the hormone oxytocin, which is also called the love hormone. This hormone helps us bond and build trust. The more contact one has with their partner, the more nurturing and generous they feel in all aspects of their life.
For a lagging sex life, trying sexual stimulants may enhance the experience. Also, communication with your partner is extremely important. A sexual relationship between a couple can make or break them, and most problems in the bedroom can be worked out by talking.
