If your eating habits have gone a little off track since your New Years resolution pledge, you are not alone. Sometimes, attempting to do too much at once can get overwhelming, and things can go in the opposite direction. If you made a commitment to the gym, eating much healthier and losing weight you may just be doing too much. It is not too late to get back on track-especially with your eating and weight loss goals. Don’t get discouraged, there are many simple ways to cut calories and not feel like you are missing out on your meals.
Making the right decisions when you go grocery shopping is essential. For example, be picky with your meat. Choose meat options that are extra lean and you may save up to 75-80 calories per meal. Furthermore, if you can substitute extra lean turkey for beef, you will save even more calories and you probably won’t be able to tell much of a difference when it comes to taste. A few times a week, try making a casserole or chili with vegetarian options, such as soy based vegetarian crumbles or tofu. Making cheese sauces can pack up to 90 extra calories per serving. Instead, try sprinkling on some parmesan cheese to get the same flavor, and only 20 calories. Another great tip to keep in mind when preparing meals is to simply increase the amount of vegetables, and you will automatically decrease the calorie content and add more essential vitamins and nutrients for added health benefits.
