Take The Edge Off Hangovers

We’ve all been there-you had a few too many margaritas the night before and wake up with a pounding headache and a full day of things to do. A hangover is caused by dehydration of the body and produces such unpleasant effects as headaches, thirst, nausea, irritability, and tiredness. Here are a few ways to cure your throbbing head and ease your hangover so you can get the most out of your day after a long night out.

1. Eat foods rich in minerals like fish or pickles. In Poland, drinking pickle juice is a common remedy to cure a hangover and although it may not taste great, many people swear that it works wonders.

2. Get some exercise. Even though it may take some willpower to get moving, once you start sweating out the alcohol from the night before you will start feeling much better. Remember to drink a lot of water before, during, and after the work out as your body is already dehydrated.

3. Drinks lots of fluids. Both water and fruit juice are a good idea to drink throughout the day to replenish your extremely dehydrated body after a night of too much fun. For juices try to drink orange juice, or another juice with high levels of vitamin C. Avoid coffee the day after a night out as this will give you a minor energy boost but will dehydrate your body even more once your caffeine high wears off.

4. Honey for a hangover. Honey contains potassium which will speed up your metabolism process. This will get you up and about and give you more energy throughout the day-try to take a tablespoon every twenty minutes or so until you start feeling better. Taking honey in tea is also a great idea, as you will be getting hydrated at the same time.

Even though the best cure for a hangover is not drinking at all -let’s face it, you can’t avoid a good party night all the time. Other alternatives to prevent hangovers include taking a prevention pill such as Chaser before you start drinking or alternating water with alcoholic drinks.
