The Healing of Echinacea

Echinacea (also known as the Purple Coneflower) is often heralded as the ‘cure-all’ for minor illnesses. From colds and flu’s to urinary infections, Echinacea is a multi-faceted product that can help. Herbalists believe that Echinacea is a strong purifier of blood and that it boosts the immune system, which assists the body in fighting disease.

The plant from which the herb is extracted grows mainly in the United States and southern parts of Canada, and is known by some indigenous cultures as ‘snake root’ because of its use in treating snakebites. It has also been used by the same culture to treat tooth problems, infections, and as an antibiotic.

With such an array of healing properties the product was adopted by more than indigenous people in the past century and has become a staple in many peoples diet. During the winter it is often offered by herbalists as a preventative measure to lessen the effects of influenza. Also, due to its properties as an antibiotic, it is often prescribed to assist with healing after a burn, or insect bite, or even for psoriasis.

Echinacea is said to have no side effects and is widely available in several different supplemental forms. It can be taken as an additive to drinks, or in pills. Anyway you take it, feel good in knowing that it will be boosting your chances staying healthy and strong.
