Want Great Abs?

Summer is on, and as we are forced to expose more of our bodies around the pool, thoughts of the perfect stomach are on the minds of many people. Getting a toned, flat stomach, with washboard cuts takes discipline, a good routine and a few simple techniques and tips.

Firstly, it’s important to know that thousands of sit-ups each day does NOT translate into perfect abs. Sure, the muscles are targeted and will become strong, but you need a full routine combined with a good diet in order to burn off the layer of soft stuff surrounding the abs. Everyone has a six-pack hiding underneath their waist.

Here are some general tips for getting great abs:

1. In order to burn the fat around your stomach you have to burn it all over your body. You can wish the extra weight off, but the only way to reduce is with exercising with lots of fat-burning methods like cardio.

2. Go easy on your abs. The muscles need time to recover. Don’t work them everyday. A routine that brings them into focus one day, and then lets them rest for a day or two is perfect.

3. Find a calorie-reduced diet. You’ll simply be running in circles if you continue to eat high fat foods. Lessen your intake of beer and watch the weight drop off!

4. Broaden the amount of abdominal exercises you do. Don’t get stuck doing crunches.

5. Stretch. One of the most important things you can do is lengthen the muscles. It helps to lay them down flat and will create a better posture, which, in turn, will give you a better looking stomach.
