Weight Loss Menu Options
When trying to lose weight the last thing you want is to bite into a tasteless and boring meal. Just because you are trying to slim down doesn’t have to mean that you have to sacrifice taste and flavour too. Below are some great ideas for menu options that will help you stick to your diet and weight loss goals without forsaking all food enjoyment.
Oh Oatmeal: Oatmeal is one of those great staple breakfast foods. A terrific source of fiber, and minerals and vitamins it is also low in fat and filling—a hard to find combination. Sprinkle on some hemp seed hearts, blueberries and away you go. You’ve got a terrific and filling breakfast.
You can also alternate oatmeal with quinoa for breakfast. Follow the same guidelines above but use quinoa which is loaded with protein. Mix it up with a dab of low fat yogurt and/or some raisins.
Soup and Sandwich: Soup and sandwich are really a winning combination when it comes to lunchtime. Low fat soups are hot and can be filling without adding too much in the way of calories. Steer clear of creamy soups and opt instead for clear broths with vegetables or lean meat.
Sandwiches can also be great and tasty diet options provided you don’t load up on high fat cheeses, mayos and/or sandwich meats. Instead load your sandwich with some lean chicken breast, low or no fat mayo and a few slices of lettuce. Not in the mood for chicken salad sandwiches, then use hummus and a low fat mozzarella cheese. Add pickles or other veggies for taste and fill.
Tasty Tacos: Tacos don’t have to be full of fat if you make them right. Chose hard corn taco shells or a low fat whole-wheat soft shell to begin with. Then instead of using fatty ground beef, opt instead for a lower fat option like ground turkey, veggie ground round or even bison. All of these are lower in fat and can still be just as tasty when the right seasonings are used.
In order to keep the calorie count low, load up your shell with tomatoes, lettuce and low or no fat sour cream. Using these veggies and this low fat sour cream will add flavour to your taco without adding extra calories.
Dieting doesn’t have to mean denying yourself everything all the time. Choosing sensible meals that have nutrients needed for health while still avoiding high calorie options will lead to weight loss even if it is a little slower than you’d like. Adding exercise alongside these healthy choices will speed things up and help to make your diet a lifestyle choice rather than merely a quick fix.
