Geranamine is also sometimes referred to by its chemical names of 1,3 Dimethylamylamine or methylhexanemine. It is commonly used as part of bodybuilding supplements including AMP and X-Force. 1,3 Dimethylamylamine coms from geranium oil. It mimics epinephrine (i.e. adrenaline), which is the body’s chemical messenger. 1,3 Dimethylamylamine is a potent CNS stimulant just as adrenaline is. Rating 1,3-Dimethylamylamine (DMAA) is a powerful central nervous system (CNS) stimulant extracted from geranium oil. It first was used as a nasal decongestant in the 1940s. More recently it has been reintroduced as a dietary supplement ingredient often used in sports and weight loss supplements.
DMAA is often used in sports supplements to deliver a boost in energy and concentration to help athletes and bodybuilders get through their most challenging workouts. In weight loss supplements it is said to improve energy, fat burning, and metabolism. However, there are no published studies to support the claims.
Yet, DMAA does seem to be effective, but it is unknown how effective. This includes it improving workout performance when taken with caffeine and nootropics before working out. It in weight loss supplements it improves energy, which can help encourage one to go to the gym even late in the day. The improvement in metabolism and fat burning are just speculated abilities since it is a CNS stimulant.
DMAA is legal, however the World Anti-Doping Agency and Major League Baseball ban the use of it, so professional athletes should avoid supplements containing DMAA.
As a stimulant there are some possible side effects of using DMAA. Caution should be taken when using it, as it is a very powerful stimulant. For this reason, it should not be used by those with heart disease, hypertension, or similar health issues. Even if you have used stimulants you should start with very small doses, as it is much more powerful than caffeine or ephedrine. It is best to use DMAA on its own as a powder in order to better control the dosage rather than in supplements containing DMAA and other ingredients where it can be much harder to take smaller doses.
