Maca Root is a vegetable gown in the Andes mountains in Peru. For thousands of years it has been used for its ability to provide energy, strength, and endurance. It is also commonly used for promoting healthy sexual function. Additionally it can improve emotion health.

Maca root is related to radishes and turnips. It grows in different colors including white, black, and purple. It is an unique plant in its ability to grow at 14,000 feet above sea level and survive extreme freezing cold, intense sunlight, and powerful winds.

Maca is a good source of amino acids, phytonutrients, fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. For its nutritional value and ability to provide energy some believe maca is the best supplement to take. This is because it is almost the same as taking a multi-vitamin that provides you with all our essential nutrients.

Benefits that maca root provides include it aiding with the regulation, support, and balance of the hormonal systems in men and women. It is an adaptogen, so it works to gradually provide benefits and is not an quick miracle solution. However, continuous use can provide benefits.

When taken as capsules with dried maca powder, a typical daily dosage is three to six 500mg capsules. For best results it should be taken every day on a continual basis. There is no evidence that taking too much can cause toxicity or side effects. Thus maca is a safe supplement to improve general health, especially sexual function, without negative side effects. Maca works very well, I order it to help with hotflashes, depression, and insomnia. It has helped me alot. I started using it about one month ago, it has done everything it said. I definitely would recomend it to anyone dealing with hotflashes and hormone unbalance. (Posted on 2/12/10)

I recently read an article about Maca and what interested me most was that not only did it increase sexual desire in men but also in women! I was skeptical at first but soon after I started taking it regularly I was absolutely amazed! I could believe the effect it had on me! There's no side effects whatsever, my energy levels have increased and most importantly so did my sex drive. The sexual energy between my husband and I has never been so good. He's noticed the change in me and has even started taking it himself!
Some advise for first time users tho. When i first started taking the pills i was only taking 2 a day with no effects. My doctor told me that because maca is a food, not a drug, that i should be taking larger amounts as small amount do little good. I usually take 6-8 capsules a day. I've also noticed that the more I take the stronger the effects. (Dont worry Maca has no toxicity and no adverse pharmacologic effects, even in large amounts). I think this a excellent and safe way to increase libido without the side effects of prescription drugs! (Posted on 1/19/09)
