Reishi mushroom is a famous Chinese medicine referred to at the “king of herbs.” Reishi mushrooms use waste material in the ground they grow to obtain nutrients. This allows them to reduce the amount of decayed material where it grows and uses it for its own nourishment.

Reishi mushroom has long been used to improve longevity, health, wisdom, and happiness. Reishi mushrooms are quite rare, as only two to three of every 10,000 aged trees contain reishi mushroom producing fungi networks. In ancient Japan and China emperors and kings used reishi mushroom teas to improve vitality and longevity. Taoists believed that reishi mushrooms were part of the elixir of youth they sought out.

Today reishi mushrooms are used in elixirs designed to improve longevity and vitality. They are also used to treat a number of other conditions. The abilities of reishi mushrooms are believed to be related to the triterpenes and polysaccharides, which can improve blood flow and reduce inflammation.

Its inflammation reduction is thought to be useful for those that suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and heart disease. It can also help with pain caused by inflammatory conditions such as herpes zoster virus and neuralgia. The ability of reishi mushrooms to improve longevity might be tied to the anti-inflammatory aspect, as inflammation is often a major issue of chronic and degenerative diseases.

Reisi mushrooms also possess potent antioxidant capabilities. For this reason, they can enhance immunity, especially when used along with other antioxidant vitamins. It is thought that they might be able to slow or stop tumor growth and thus are frequently used to prevent cancer.

Reishi mushroom can be found in dried, concentrated tables, capsules, and liquid extract forms. As a dried mushroom form a typical daily dosage is 1.5 to 9 grams. In capsules or tablets form the daily dosage is usually 150 to 900mg. Lower dosages are effective with some conditions. There are some reported negative side effects of reishi use, although mostly when used long term. Side effects include dry mouth, dizziness, nosebleeds, and stomach discomfort.

Reishi mushrooms have blood thinning effects, so it is not appropriate for those taking blood thinners. Additionally, those pregnant or lactating might want to avoid it, as the effects are unknown on these conditions. (Posted on 3/1/11)

I have been buying red reishi essence capsules for the last 5 months. Firstly, can I say that astronutrition offer one of the cheapest, fastest deliveries and reliable service that is second to none. I am always given discount vouchers to use for my next purchase also. I have suffered with chronic insomnia for the last 10 years and this product is the only thing that has seen an improvement in my sleep. I recently had a break from the product and instantly felt the difference from coming off it, so I have restarted and am already feeling better. Other benefits I have noticed that everyone around me seem to be picking up virus after virus and as a nurse, I usually pick up quite a bit. However, since taking reishi I have not had one cough/cold virus, I have felt like sometimes I am starting to get a sore throat, but my body seems to be able to fight the virus off. successful use of Reishi mushrooms in cancer treatment Review by mihai

2 years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer; given its small size and non agressive behaviour my oncologist decided to take a wait and view approach;
there was no "classic" treatment suggested;
togethar with my general practitioner, I decided to follow some "alternative" tratment;
my traetment was based on 4 axes :
-homepathic treatment,deemed to "starving" the cancer
-Reishi mushroom extract/essence daily doses of 7 to 10 mg equvalent of mushroom toghether with some other alternative cancer medication
-diet based on fruits and vegetables, with as little as possible proteins and anti-oxidents;
-sport and relaxation, through meditation;
within this programm, Reishi mushroom extract/essence played a central role given its proven action against cancer;
I have been on this treatment for 2 years with very good results;
I have been comparing the different reishi mushroom products and I came to the conclusion that the Reishi Mushroom essence is the best and the most suited to the treatment of my cancer;
the product is of very good quality and well protected by a packaging of high quality;
although quite expensive, given its quality and efficiency I consider it as a reasonable treatment which I will have to follow for the foreseable future.
so, as a conclusion, I strongly recomend such treatment, based on Reishi mushroom essence for people faced with similar problems to mine. (Posted on 10/9/10)

I've been on this product for over two months now and consider it one of my staple supplements. Initially, I was taking one capsule in the morning with a Vitamin C supplement. After about 3 days, I found an extra jump in my step, waking up before the alarm and energized throughout the day.

About a month into it, I started taking another capsule in the evening with Vitamin C. For the next 3 days, my body was sore. The best way I can describe it was that it felt like toxins were being pulled out from my bone marrow and coming to the surface. It wasn't excruciating pain, but soreness throughout the body. When the soreness passed, I felt so rejuvenated, would practically jump out of bed, slept great, and felt like I got a tuneup.

Many friends and colleagues have jumped on the bandwagon and are experiencing very positive effects. I'm such a believer in this product now that I put my whole family on it!
