Chlorophytum Borivillianum is also known as Safed musli. It is considered an aphrodisiac and immunostimulant. It contains some steroidal saponins. In rodent studies, it has been found to reduce stress, improve libido and sperm count, enhance immune response, inhibit tumor growth, enhance lipid metabolism, and relieve diabetes caused sexual dysfunction. However, there are not any related human studies to show its effectiveness in humans. Additionally, the track record of aphrodisiacs being useful for improving strength/mass in peer-reviewed studies is not good. Basically there is no evidence that it can improve testosterone enough to provide strength/mass gains.
Velvet bean is another aphrodisiac that also believed to have anti-stress and fertility enhancing effects. It also is a source of l-dopa, which is a precursor to dopamine. L-dopa has been found in several studies to help significantly improve circulating GH, which can improve fat loss and body composition. However, it is unknown how much velvet bean is in PowerFULL and thus if enough is present to be effective. Plus, it seems they are using bean powder and not highly concentrated extract, which would be necessary to provide results in the dosages possible in PowerFULL.
Another problem with PowerFULL, is that there is not any evidence that GH supplements improve human body composition that hGH therapy provides. The limited science behind the ingredients in PowerFULL makes it seem nothing more than a male enhancement product. It might be able to slightly improve performance in the gym and thus improve body composition, but not the significant results that the company claims. (Posted on 2/18/11)
