naNO Vapor claims to be the “World’s Strongest Vaso-Anabolic Psychoactive Experience.” It claims to be different than other companies that randomly throw ingredients together, but it seems an iffy claim with there being more than 60 ingredients in naNO Vapor.

The problem with having really complex formulas are that ingredients might work alone, but not with other ingredients. Although, the opposite can also be true with ingredients improving each other’s effectiveness. Thus it make seem suspect, but it contains some useful ingredients that can make this an effective supplement, although world’s best is possibly a stretch.

Looking closer at the ingredients 31 of them can be reduced down to different forms of 10 basic compounds: creatine, leucine, taurine, valine, isoleucine, arginine, cirtruline, norvaline, beta-alanine, and tyrosine. While these are pretty standard ingredients in bodybuilding supplements, multiple forms of them does not necessarily make it better. For example, they claim having 6 forms of creatine is more effective than just one, but there is no scientific proof that it true.

naNO Vapor also contains a number of herbs. Many have potential, although there currently is very minimal scientific support that they improve athletic performance or strength. It is very likely many could be taken out of the formula and not change its effectiveness. The fat-loss herbs of yohimbine, tea extracts, and evodiamine are especially not really necessary as naNO Vapor is a pre-workout supplement.

naNO Vapor does have compounds that improve cognitive and mood, which are important for a pre-workout supplement. This includes stimulants such as caffeine, theobromine, tyrosine, and yerba mate, which are proven effective. It also contains acetyl-l-carnitine, sulbutiamine, vinpoecetine, huperzine A, and alpha glycerophsphocholine, which are known to improve cognitive function. There are also some healthy antioxidants in naNO Vapor.

It is hard to tell if there is enough of the useful compounds in each dose, but considering the dosage is 2 to 3 scoops it likely has enough of the important ingredients to be effective to some extent. However, some ingredients still might be too small of doses to be effective.

Users do seem to overall report that using naNO Vapor provides a noticeable effect on alertness during workouts to help get a decent pump. However, it is not exactly amazing, as it does not improve stamina as it seems it should. Thus while effective, it does not quite deliver more than a simpler supplement could. (Posted on 3/8/11)
