A natural source of vitamin C

Tried and True
Vitamin C
is one of the most well known dietary supplements. It is best known for its use as a treatment for colds, although it is effective for many other health conditions. At a cellular level, vitamin C works as an antioxidant and as a regulator of collagen formation, which makes up the connective tissues of skin, bones, cartilage, teeth, muscles and blood vessel walls. Vitamin C also boosts the immune system, benefits heart health, and detoxifies carcinogens.

A natural source
Vitamin C
is synthesized from glucose. The most common source of vitamin C is glucose extracted from corn starch, which is a very common allergen. The chemical processes involved in extracting and synthesizing vitamin C denature the corn proteins so that there is not actually any corn left in the product. However, a very small minority of people still experience allergic-type responses to this source of vitamin C. This concern is eliminated by using extracts from tapioca, which are allergen-free.

High quality vitamin C
AOR's Tapioca C
provides vitamin C as an all-natural pharmaceutical-grade product. It also provides an effective dose, ensuring full delivery of the health benefits of the most famous antioxidant.

Linus Pauling was one of the first to present vitamin C's role as protector against the cold and flu. Over the next twenty years his original thesis was proven: daily vitamin C intakes far above the US RDA reduce the duration and severity of the common cold. Along the way, exciting new discoveries on the role played by vitamin C have been made. For instance, in cardiovascular disease: ascorbate has been reported to improve such known risk factors as platelet aggregation, blood pressure, blood glucose levels, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL. Recent double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials have also demonstrated ascorbate's power to improve the ability of blood vessels to relax, presumably through improving the synthesis and bioavailability of nitric oxide (NO). One trial reported that ascorbate increased nitric-oxide dependent, flow-mediated dilation of the arteries by over 50%. Infusion with vitamin C attenuated the spasming of the coronary artery induced by acetylcholine in angina patients.

Recent double-blind trials have also shown clear benefits for vitamin C in such diverse health conditions as severe burns, wrist fractures, and pre-eclampsia (a metabolic disturbance in late pregnancy). While the value of vitamin C as a cancer therapy remains controversial, there are now several reports of antioxidants, including vitamin C, improving the effectiveness and tolerability of chemotherapy.
There is an increasingly strong consensus among serious investigators that the US RDA is far too low, and the new Daily Values (DV) and Reference Daily Intakes (RDI) are even lower. A recent article reviewed "extensive biochemical, molecular, epidemiologic, and clinical data," and concluded that 100 milligrams (twice the RDI) may be required to safely avert deficiency (which is all the RDA ever claimed to do), and 200 milligrams is closer to the real "Estimated Average Requirement" - a requirement acknowledged to only meet the health requirements of half of the population.

Controlled trials have shown that a minimum of 500 milligrams of ascorbate is required to reduce the duration and severity of the common cold, with better results at 1 and 2 grams, respectively, so that even a recommendation of 200 milligrams is too low for the optimal health of most persons. Such levels are almost impossible to obtain with anything resembling a normal diet, so that supplementation may be required.
Plants and most animals synthesize vitamin C from glucose. Vitamin C supplements are also made from glucose rather than being extracted directly from plants. The most typical source for the glucose used in commercial glucose sourcing - corn starch - is a very common allergen. But the chemical process of extraction and crystallization of glucose from corn, and its pharmaceutical synthesis into vitamin C, eliminates all possible trace of antigens, proteins, or nucleic acids from the original plant. So no one is allergic to vitamin C derived from corn sources. But for poorly understood reasons a very small minority of health-conscious people do experience "allergic"-type responses.

Sago palm, beets, or peppers can be used instead, but are often considerably more expensive than commodity-grade ascorbate. Tapioca-C is created using glucose derived from tapioca, to create an awesomely hypoallergenic source of supplemental C at a reasonable cost.

Research on the values of supplemental nutrients is accelerating at an astounding rate, with old benefits confirmed and new benefits found more than once a month. Tapioca-C makes the benefits of this wonder nutrient available to all.
